Once in a while (believe it or not), we misplace a message. If you do not get a response from us within a few days, please send us your message again!Amazon at GoodwoodDear Editor,Having admired the fantastic and informative VClassics web site from here in faraway London, I now find myself anxious to contact some of your members if at all possible. As an ex-Alfa Romeo and Abarth racer of many years' standing, I am preparing my first (ex-Rally) Volvo Amazon for selected Historic races here in England and Europe this year. After a single exploratory outing in the European Historic Touring Car championship last year, we are in the very privileged position of just having been asked to take part in the Goodwood Revival Meeting in September. This event in just two years has established itself as the world's premier historic race meeting, with over 100,000 spectators, hordes of Grand Prix stars old and new, and four hours of live TV coverage. It is strictly by invitation only and we are the first and only Volvo to have been considered by the organisers for this prestigious event that manages to bring out some of the rarest and most exotic works racers on the planet. As correct historic appearance and detail is extremely important at Goodwood (no persons are allowed into the paddock area unless wearing appropriate 1950's clothing, no post 1966 vehicles are allowed on site at all!), I am hoping to appeal to your readers for any photo reference or technical details of the class-leading US Amazons that competed back then at the Sebring Saloon Car Races of 1963-65 especially, so we can make sure the car is as far as we can get it just right. On the technical side, I have received a lot of help from your own Cameron Lovre who has been terrific. Whilst they are somewhat rallied over here, we are the only racers in England and reliable information on making these cars perform has been elusive, not least because we are also bound by restrictive FIA Appendix K regulations. If anyone would like to contact me, I can be reached at Joel.Wykeham@BBC.co.uk and I would be frightfully grateful to hear from anyone who can help.
With all the very best wishes. More from PortugalGot the magazine yesterday. Many, many thanks! It really made my day.Went to karate class (where I met my cousin, owner of a '61 Jensen) and took the mag with me. All the other guys saw it and were amazed with the quality of the magazine and articles. Of course, they were also very jealous about my car and being published abroad. My cousin was somewhat happy, sad and envious. And I felt bad. He bought his "P" first and helped me a lot getting mine. So he was jealous not seeing his car... Bottom line: is it possible to publish another article soon, say during this year? It could be something around, "If it is rare to see one P1800 in Portugal, two is even more odd. But the fact is that although there are only a very few specimens in all the country (no more than 10) the sight of two red side by side is really something."
All the best,
