Phil Singher editor@vclassics.com In January of last year, we were privileged to performance test a remarkably quick (and beautiful) Amazon belonging to Boris Kort-Packard (see Vol1., No.1 of our print edition). In January of this year, Boris crested a hill at speed and came upon the wreck of two cars that had failed to negotiate the black ice present on the road. Boris managed to avoid the cars, but -- hitting the ice himself -- planted the Amazon's nose firmly into the Sheriff's 4WD vehicle attending the scene. This resulted in some bruises and soreness for Boris, and his car suffered considerable body damage with the radiator being driven into the water pump. Boris located a 122S for parts and procured additional trim from Tom Swartz in California before turning the Amazon over to The Works. As these photos show, Bob Moreno performed his customary magic and the Amazon is now better than ever. The Sheriff's vehicle we don't know about.
We will continue our reports on Bob's restoration of Carolyn's Amazon in the next issue -- we hope this will tide over fans of that series until then.
