Once in a while (believe it or not), we misplace a message. If you do not get a response from us within a few days, please send us your message again!More stupid fuel tricksAnother excellent issue of VClassics. Your article "Stupid Fuel Tricks" reminds me when I collected my Amazon last year from Auckland, a 140 mile trip to Tauranga. (The previous owner was an old lady who drove the car only locally at low speed). The engine stopped many times during my trip, but I was able to restart the engine after a few minutes rest. I made it back home and in the following weeks checked all the usual items, swapped the petrol pump, replaced fuel hoses, etc. Months later I found the problem in the gas tank, a 5" long, narrow tape of plastic had been floating in the tank and must have been blocking the fuel line when driving fast on the motorway. After a short stop the strip floated away from the fuel line and unblocked the fuel supply. It looked to me that the plastic strip may have been part of the inside of rubber fuel hose.Jim Hekker Webmaster, Volvo Enthusiasts Club New Zealand (Inc) http://www.homeworld.co.nz/volvo/index.html Suspension parts from the UKI found a performance/racing parts company in the UK that will make springs, etc. for any classic volvo. They can make them stiffer, lower, taller whatever the customer wants -- and they are affordable! About $280 w/ shipping.I'm having a set made up for my 544 -- 20mm lower ride height and 20% stiffer. Will let you know how they turn out. Also will make sway bars.
Regards, Kudos DepartmentPhil,Giant thanks to David Hueppchen, you, and VClassics tech support in general! New headlight wiring harness (relays and such supplied by O.J. Rallye) a great success. No more voltage drop and much brighter lights. Couldn't have even conceived of the idea -- much less done it -- without you guys! Shayne C. Green Portland, OR sgreen@uswest.net Phil, I just read your account of getting ready for your first time at the track with your P1800 and just had to laugh at what you ran into with "so much time to spare" before the race. I surely can relate to your experiences and respect your honesty and integrity as shown by your Bilstein situation. Three cheers for you! Keep up the great work you, Marsha, David and the others provide for us Volvo enthusiasts; I sincerely thank you and appreciate your conscientous and dedicated efforts.
Best wishes to all of you this holiday season! Back to the Top |
