"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly past."
Issue #4 of our print edition has also encountered various production delays after leaving our hands. So, all you subscribers, the mailman didn't steal your copy -- it is forthcoming. If you didn't get #3, the mailman did steal your copy. In this issue, Lee "VolvoGirl" Holman tells us about her first foray into Pro Rally, the first time we've had the opportunity to cover that pretty intense sport. Brooks Townes writes in his inimitable style about his latest 9,000-mile trip across the US -- more to come later, this only takes us through mile 3,000-something. Nick Choy has discovered an option some of us didn't even know our Volvos had: "Driver-Selectable Driving Modes," and Cameron Lovre tries out some new headlamps. Speaking of Cameron, he hasn't abandoned reporting on the Amazon Restoration project; we should have another installment in the next issue. We're giving David Hueppchen a well-deserved rest (from writing articles, anyway) after his busy racing season -- which he's been writing up for our print edition only. Evan Reisner gives us the second part of his "Beaters" series, and I've written up a Shop Talk article and a Tech Tip about some things I learned the hard way (one of them is inexpensive). Mark Hershoren has been cultivating some Swedish sources and it looks like we'll have some great material for you soon -- but not in time for this issue. Meanwhile, I opted to publish a long-ish letter Mark sent in a few months back, while taking a break from running for the Governorship of Samoa. All of you who think 140-series cars have a high center of gravity, check out the All-Euro racers in "On Your Marques." As for Mark's center of gravity, draw your own conclusions. In the beauty department, we have a photo special of the VSA Western National Meet, and -- held over by popular demand (really!) -- we're re-running both parts of Lee's "VolvoGirl Spring Tour '99." Hope you enjoy it -- see you next year! Phil Singher, Editor Easy-print version of this page |
